The Twist
Beating alcohol happens by changing your beliefs, not by trying to change your behavior with willpower.
Most of us have been drinking for decades. It is a big part of our life and our self-identity. There are so many common beliefs as to why we drink.
“All of my friend’s drink”
“I drink to relax”
“Drinking makes me more comfortable at parties”
“I have more fun when I drink”
“I’m funnier when I drink”
“Drinking helps me deal with family stress.”
“Drinking helps me fall asleep.”
“My partner and I drink together”
“Drinking makes intimacy and sex better”
These beliefs are wrong
These beliefs are false, but they feel hard-wired when they’re amplified by our friends, peers, the alcohol industry and our culture. Together, we’ll work to challenge and reframe these long-held beliefs.
It’s not your fault
It’s time to stop blaming and judging yourself. Alcohol is a highly addictive drug and our culture encourages and promotes its use. You do not have a disease, an allergy or a genetic predisposition that causes your drinking. There is hope, there is help.
Affective Liminal Psychology
ALP is a new, highly effective way to change beliefs and behavior. It works by changing your beliefs, so you are not in conflict with yourself. We all have an inner voice that is jabbering away all the time, often critical and negative. This voice can undo all of your good intentions. Affective Liminal Psychology helps you change that inner dialogue to be more positive through awareness, clarity and transformation. Change that inner, critical voice and anything is possible!
Private Coaching
You do not need to go to public meetings for the rest of your life and tell your story. Private coaching is personal and confidential, focusing on your future, not your past. Typically weekly zoom calls for 3-6 months will get you on your way. Together we will examine your inner beliefs and conflicts, and apply the tactics of Affective Liminal Psychology to help turn them around. Your job is to be open-minded and willing to challenge your beliefs, opening the path to a new way of thinking, and living.
